Definition
Demountable flood protection barriers consist of a combination of removable and pre-installed permanent components. The system is planned to be erected following a flood warning and dismounted after the end of a flood warning. Contrary to the temporary flood barriers, the site of use is constrained by the location of the pre-installed components (foundation). Generally, the demountable components are composed of pillars, which are fixed after the warning alert to the pre-installed ground components. Between the pillars the protection line is inserted, which may consists of beams or plates.(Ogunyoye F. et. al, 2011)

Το κινούμενο φράγμα προστασίας από πλημμύρα αποτελείται από ένα συνδυασμό αφαιρούμενων και προεγκατεστημένων μόνιμων εξαρτημάτων. Το σύστημα σχεδιάζεται να ανεγερθεί μετά από προειδοποίηση για πλημμύρα και να αποσυρθεί με την άρση της προειδοποίησης. Σε αντίθεση με τα προσωρινά φράγματα για πλημμύρες, στο συγκεκριμένο μέτρο ο χώρος χρήσης περιορίζεται από τη θέση των προεγκατεστημένων στοιχείων (θεμέλια). Γενικά, τα αφαιρούμενα τμήματα αποτελούνται από στύλους, οι οποίοι τοποθετούνται μετά την προειδοποίηση για πλημμύρα στα προεγκατεστημένα σημεία (θεμέλια). Μεταξύ των πυλώνων εισάγεται η γραμμή προστασίας, η οποία μπορεί να αποτελείται από δοκούς ή πλάκες.(Ogunyoye F. et. al, 2011)

Τα κινούμενο φράγμα προστασίας από πλημμύρα αποτελούν μια χαμηλού κόστους πρακτική, μικρού βάρους, εύκολα εφαρμόσιμη από ένα άτομο, ευέλικτη καθώς μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί σε διάφορες γεωμετρίες και υψηλής αντοχής. Με τη συγκεκριμένη τεχνική υπάρχει η δυνατότητα επιλογής του εδάφους εγκατάστασης (μη υδατοπερατά εδάφη) και τα φράγματα είναι πλήρως μετακινούμενα, διατηρώντας το έδαφος εγκατάστασης αναλλοίωτο.(Flood Control International, Demountable Barriers, accessed on Sept. 2016)
