Flood management measure: Emergency exit of buildings above highest flood level

Definition

The main exit of a building is traditionally positioned at ground level. In case of a flood this only exit may be blocked by water and debris taken by the waterflow. Emergency exits should be placed at the highest possible flood level. Also existing windows can be redesigned as emergency exits.

Η κύρια έξοδος ενός κτιρίου είναι παραδοσιακά τοποθετημένη στο επίπεδο του εδάφους. Σε περίπτωση πλημμύρας, η μοναδική αυτή έξοδος μπορεί να καλυφθεί με νερό και μπάζα, που παρασύρονται με τη ροή του νερού. Οι έξοδοι έκτακτης ανάγκης πρέπει να τοποθετούνται στο υψηλότερο δυνατό επίπεδο πλημμύρας. Επίσης, τα υπάρχοντα παράθυρα μπορούν να επανασχεδιαστούν ως έξοδοι έκτακτης ανάγκης.
